Just need the weather...

The marquees are up, the beers and ciders are in and chillin'. Just need the weather (lookin good so far) and you guys to turn up and enjoy yourselves for the day. The Festival is essential to the survival of Leighton Village Hall; it couldn't remain open without the money raised in this one event and we are very grateful to its founders: Paul Cawthorne, Richard Bateson, David Whitaker, John MacLean and Ron Atha. John and Ron are still our engineers-in-chief, making sure that the racking goes up and the beers are chilled. Missed out on Glastonbury tickets?

With great weather forecast for the weekend (nothing nicer than a cold beer in 25C heat) and a fantastic line-up of local performers, you won't be disappointed at the Wrekin Beer & Cider Festival. Our headline band is The Yarchesters and they'll be on the main stage (indoors to you and me) at around 9pm. Ever popular, they are back with a new set, can't wait to boogie along. Junk Mail's following is growing nearly as fast as they are and small wonder as they are a really tight, well-rehearsed group that is twice as professional as many grown-up bands. We'll be welcoming Tied Accoustic, Sam S and Jessie Desai, all new to the fest this year (you are really in for a treat) to say nothing of th

Five more sleeps

It's the big day on Saturday! We have a fabulous selection of local beers that include many seasonal specials: Headlining is the Wood White from Wood's, a cloudy, Belgian-style beer launched to help raise money for butterfly conservation (specifically for the Wood White butterfly). There's Golden Dale from Norman at the Corvedale Brewery; we couldn't run the festival without him thanks to his generous loan of cooling equipment and expertise. Joules are providing Hawaii Five Joe for us to try, along with two established ales, Royal and Pale. You'll be able to try Light Side from Ken Finney in Wellington, Green Man from Clun Brewery, Blonde from Shire Ales, Cartway Gold from Severn Valley Ales

There's more to life than beer...

... there's food as well! This year, Carnival Pizza are returning to the Wrekin Beer & Cider Festival for the second year running and will be serving us fabulous pizzas from their wood-fired oven, yum! They'll be providing gourmet burgers too, as well as nachos and teas and coffees for those in-between moments. We advise you to come hungry as well as thirsty.

Something for the kids to do

We're pleased to welcome Curbside Gaming to the Festival with their super gaming van that can fit up to twelve kids at any one time. Each Kids Ticket comes with tokens that can be used to buy either soft-drinks, snacks, face-painting or time in the gaming van. Please be aware that parents/guardians/carers are responsible for their child/vulnerable adult at all times during the festival.

Some of you are cider drinkers

We got the message last year: you like cider and the fruitier the better. We hope you won't be disappointed this year: Pineapple & Pink Grapefruit, Raspberry (Ruby Tuesday), Mango Lime Ginger, Wild Berry and a few others. And a Clementine Perry. That's to say nothing of our three classic ciders in dry, medium and sweet. Something for everyone!

More fun than you can shake a stick at!!

Shrewsbury Morris have agreed to entertain us again at this year's festival. You may recall them arm-twisting a few of us into dancing, who were then shown up by the kids! So come armed with your sticks and bells and see if us older folk can't up our game!!
